This panel screens for, detects, evaluates, and monitors acute and chronic liver inflammation (hepatitis), liver disease and/or and damage of liver cells. You and your doctor may use this test periodically to evaluate liver function especially if you are at risk for liver injury. If you have a history of habitual alcohol consumption or are taking medications which may affect your liver, or you have known hepatitis B or C, or known cirhosis this is an important test to check periodically. If you have noticed any yellowing in your eyes or skin, this test should be considered.
