CA 125 can be elevated in women with family history of ovarian cancer. It is used to monitor treatment for ovarian cancer or to detect recurrence and sometimes to evaluate a pelvic mass. It isn’t recommended for screening asymptomatic women but is sometimes ordered to help detect early ovarian cancer in women who are at high risk.
