FIBRlNOGEN QN 0000461
$46.63
Fibrinogen is checked as a part of an investigation of a possible bleeding disorder or blood clot (thrombotic episode), and it is sometimes used to help evaluate your risk of developing cardiovascular disease. Low levels of fibrinogen are associated with bleeding most commonly due to liver disease or Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC). Fibrinogen is an acute phase reactant and thus elevated levels may be associated with inflammation. Increased concentrations are also associated with increased risk of atherosclerosis. Your doctor may order this test when you have bleeding or thrombotic episodes or when a PT and/or PTT test is prolonged or when you have a relative with a hereditary fibrinogen deficiency or abnormality or when your health care provider wants additional information to help evaluate your risk of developing heart disease.
