This test is used to detect and help diagnose infectious mononucleosis (mono). The best time to order this test is when a person, especially an adolescent, has symptoms of mononucleosis, including fever, sore throat, swollen glands, and fatigue. It should be part of a panel of tests including EBV (Ebstein Barr Virus), CMV (Cytomegalovirus) and others to assess for similar syptoms when the diagnosis is not confirmed.
