Insulin Resistance Assessment (Blood Spot)

This test is otherwise known as the Kraft Test and measures your body’s insulin response after being challenged with sugar. It is a four-hour test and requires 6 finger sticks or blood draws and is conducted here in our office in Duarte, California, or from your home. It requires a minimum of 12 hours of fasting.  Blood is sampled at baseline and then at 1/2 hour, 1 Hour, 2 hours, 3 hours, and 4 hours after consuming a sugary solution.   

The cardinal feature of prediabetes is insulin resistance which contributes to metabolic syndrome, a condition responsible for causing stubborn belly fat, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, PCOS, fatty liver, thyroid problems, mental health disorders such as depression, difficulty with sleep, and so much more. It is the step just before diabetes and is 100% reversible whereas diabetes is not.
