The hepatitis panel is uesed to detect and diagnose an infection with a hepatitis virus. When you have symptoms of acute hepatitis such as abdominal pain, yellowing in your eyes and skin and a viral infection is suspected to be the cause, this is the test your doctor would likely check. This would also be a considered test when you have been exposed to one or more of the three most common hepatitis viruses: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C.
